Do you ever wonder what astronomers are studying? Are you curious about what they're finding out as they scan the universe with multi-wavelength eyes? "The Astronomer's Universe" on is an exploration of the celestial objects and ideas that excite astronomy researchers. Each segment focuses on a special topic, giving you a closer look at the cosmos and what astronomers are learning every day.

Carolyn Collins Petersen is vice-president of Loch Ness Productions, a unique multimedia production company specializing in cosmically creative science content. An award-winning science writer with six books, 40 documentary scripts, and countless magazine articles to her credit, Carolyn works with institutions to shape their content in astronomy, astrophysics, and space science-related outreach projects. Her most notable recent projects include the astronomy exhibits for Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, climate change exhibits for the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, and a vodcast project for MIT's Haystack Observatory. Carolyn is a former editor for Sky Publishing Corporation. Before coming to Boston, she spent eight years as a comet researcher for the Ulysses Comet Watch and was also a research associate with the Hubble Space Telescope's Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph team at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, University of Colorado. She graduated with a masters' degree in journalism and mass communications in 1996, with a minor in telecommunications engineering.

Carolyn is a member of the American Astronomical Society, the National Association of Science Writers, the International Planetarium Society, and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. She regularly lectures on topics in astronomy and science outreach and the media at star parties, conferences, and by invitation to schools, universities, and cruise lines. Carolyn maintains, and writes a daily blog called TheSpacewriter's Ramblings.
